Cellular communications cover almost the entire territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Which mobile operators represent it? The list of market leaders includes Beeline, Tele2, Altel and Kcell. Today, we will get to know each one better: who they are, what services they offer, and at what rates.

Each of the named four provides customers with mobile communications and the Internet in large cities and small towns, makes it possible to make calls within Kazakhstan or abroad, and supports a package of digital services. By purchasing an inexpensive SIM card (with minimal balance), anyone can have access to the full range of options. But how do you choose your supplier?

Beeline, Tele2, Kcell, and other operators in Kazakhstan in 2024 will differ in tariffs and services. In addition, each company has its bonuses for clients. More on all this later. First, let’s compare prices using a visual table.

Now let's take a closer look at each of the operators. Let's start with 2024 services and tariffs from Beeline Kazakhstan, which covers 45% of the country's cellular market.

Beeline

According to an audit by the Reputation Institute, it is the most respected mobile operator in the country. Beeline started out as part of a holding company, and now it is an independent unit of KaR-Tel LLP. The operator operates as a franchise and owns three trademarks: IZI, BEELINE, BEELINE BUSINESS. In the list of services includes:

• mobile and fixed telephony;
• communication within the country and international;
• data exchange;
• wireless internet, wi-fi, 3G, 4G.

The list of digital options includes multimedia, mobile finance, NB-IOT-Internet, MDM, M2M, E2E.

All Beeline 2024 tariffs allow you to satisfy the maximum number of customer requests. There are unlimited packages, a mix of gigabytes, minutes and SMS, and internet at home. Services include conference, roaming, voicemail, call forwarding, etc.

Beeline does not have an absolute unlimited Internet limit (except for modem tariffs), but it has the opportunity to unlimitedly use social networks and various services. The average price of services is 5490 ₸/~12$. You can find out what specific tariffs are on Beeline on the company’s official website.

Current promotion - when you pay in public transport with your Beeline balance, you receive a 20% cashback.

Kcell

It is controlled by the largest telecommunications company in Kazakhstan, Kazakhtelecom. The operator provides mobile services to 42% of the market and includes 2 brands—Kcell itself (corporate tariffs, including for government agencies) and Active (mass client), which we will discuss later. Operating formats are 4 and 5G, GSM, LTE, and UMTS. In terms of communication quality, Kcell is the optimal choice for residents of large cities.

Services:

• voice mobile communications;
• sms;
• additional VAS options (mobile content, multimedia sharing);
• Internet access, information transfer.

Kcell allows you to block and transfer a number, use roaming, and connect additional numbers. Its tariffs include packages for children, students, and retired subscribers. The average price for services is 7000₸/~$15.

Current beneficial offer for subscribers: when you pay for travel or a bill in a cafe/restaurant from your mobile balance, you accumulate OGO bonuses (5%), which you can then use for purchases.

Activ

As mentioned above, this is a trademark of the Kcell operator, but the tariffs for Activ are aimed at the target audience of young people. This is expressed in flexible tariff plans with calls, messages, and unlimited Internet across the country. The operator also offers many promotions and bonuses to subscribers. For example, there is also a system for accumulating OGO bonuses (including when paying in grocery stores), and with the “Exchange for Gigabits” service you can exchange SMS and minutes for calls for gigabytes of the Internet.

The asset makes it possible to transfer and block numbers, connect new numbers, and use roaming. Clients are provided with personal accounts on the official website to manage services and financial management.

The introduction of 5G speed is in progress. The average tariff price for Activ is 5440₸/~$12.

Tele2

The operator owns the Tele2 trademark and is also owned by Kazakhtelecom. The operating formats are similar to Kcell. In Kazakhstan, Tele2 stands out for the availability of tariffs for SMS, calls and the Internet across the country. The operator also offers the option of flexible customization of the service package to suit you, which is very convenient.

The list of operator options includes manipulations with the number: transfer, block, and connection of additional numbers.

There is currently a promotion on the “Profitable” tariff plan: pay for the tariff and receive an additional bonus as additional traffic of the same volume in 5G.

Altel

It is part of Kazakhtelecom JSC and owns the ALTEL 4G trademark. 5G speed is being actively implemented, and Altel has 4G throughout the country. The format of operation is LTE, GSM, UMTS networks. In 2024, the high-speed mobile operator Altel offers the creation of flexible personal tariffs with minutes, SMS and unlimited Internet. A personal account provides ease of management for clients. The brand accounts for 13% of the market (together with Tele2).

The list of services includes:

• voicemail;
• redirection;
• conference;
• roaming: there is a promotion for the return of unused funds, and with the tariff from Altel in 2024 it is also profitable to call abroad from Kazakhstan;
• 4G home Internet (there is a choice of tariffs and speeds);
• trust payment: in case of zero balance and lack of funds, the operator replenishes the client’s account for 3 days, and then this amount is debited from the balance already replenished by the person. There is a similar service for gigabytes.

The average price of operator services is 4340₸/~$9.

The cheapest tariffs from mobile operators in Kazakhstan
